Doctors Community Hospital is rated the #1 Maryland hospital for overall quality of care in the Washington, DC area, according to an independent study by the Health Care Information Association (HCIA). The Lanham/Greenbelt based hospital was also the only one of 36 hospitals reviewed to achieve an overall rating of 100 percent for quality of care.

Doctors Community Hospital is a not-for-profit, 250-bed acute care medical and surgical hospital serving the health care needs of Prince George’s County and the surrounding area. The hospital is located at 8118 Good Luck Road in Lanham.

Doctors Community Hospital offers the amenities of a major medical and surgical hospital with the caring staff and convenience of a community hospital. The Hospital is growing. A number of programs have been expanded in the past year.

We have an active Emergency Department, with a staff that treats about 38,000 patients per year. Our recently opened 8-room Fast Lane service allows us to see patients that can be treated quickly, in a special area. The main Emergency Department is undergoing an extensive renovation and expansion, which will afford our patients more privacy and room for visitors. The department currently has 23 private patient care areas.

In June 1998, we opened a 24,000 square foot critical care pavilion, which offers state-of-the-art technology in an attractive patient and family oriented setting. Each of the 24-private rooms contains advanced life support equipment, telephone and television, a large window and other amenities.

Our Diabetes Care Center provides education and individual support for Diabetic patients through weekly classes, monthly support meetings, and individual follow-up by our Certified Diabetes Educator. For more information call (301) 552-5134.

Our Women’s Services Center has mammography and stereotactic breast biopsy units with other high tech amenities. The Center provides educational and referral services. Over the next few months, the Center’s services will be expanded.

The Doctors Center for Ambulatory Surgery offers the convenience of an outpatient surgery center with the peace of mind of having a hospital right next door. The Center has four state-of-the-art operating rooms.

The Joint and Spine Center of Maryland at Doctors Community Hospital is a Center of Excellence for orthopedic care. The center focuses on patient education, physical therapy and surgical solutions for hip and knee pain and stiffness. The Joint and Spine Center program was developed using nationally recognized model programs.
